ISPON STANDING COMMITTEE WORKING CHARTER

The ISPON Standing Committee Working Charter establishes a unified governance framework to guide the operations, responsibilities, coordination, and performance of all Standing Committees of the Institute. It is intended to be a living document, subject to periodic review and updates as necessary to reflect evolving institutional needs and governance priorities. It will also serve as a reference framework for future Standing Committees of the Institute.

The Charter clarifies the roles and authority of the NEC, Standing Committees, and Executive Secretariat, ensuring that each operates within its approved mandate while maintaining effective collaboration, accountability, and institutional efficiency. It defines decision-making boundaries, membership arrangements, reporting requirements, annual work planning, performance monitoring, and quarterly implementation cycles.

A key feature of the framework is its four-level classification of responsibilities, which distinguishes Committee-Owned, Committee-Oversight, Cross-Committee, and Executive Secretariat-Executed activities. This structure is designed to minimise duplication, prevent conflicts of responsibility, and maintain a clear separation between governance and operational management.

The Charter also establishes expectations for evidence-based recommendations, measurable performance indicators, risk monitoring, inter-Committee coordination, and regular reporting to the NEC. In addition, it provides a governance test to ensure that Committee activities align with ISPON’s strategic objectives, respect institutional authority, and follow the appropriate approval processes.

Overall, this Working Charter serves as a common reference document for strengthening institutional governance, improving coordination, promoting transparency, and ensuring that all Standing Committees contribute effectively to ISPON’s strategic priorities.

Members and relevant stakeholders are encouraged to download and review the full document for detailed guidance on the governance framework, responsibilities, operating procedures, and accountability requirements applicable to ISPON Standing Committees.
